HAUNTING video captures the final moments of a schoolgirl as she walks to a park where she was battered to death and allegedly raped.
Viktorija Sokolova, 14, sneaked out of her house to meet a boy she had been chatting to on Facebook Messenger, a court has heard.
CCTV footage shown to a jury shows the tragic teenager walking to the meeting around 10.30pm on April 11.
The following morning her half-naked body was discovered by a dog walker propped up over a bench in West Park, Wolverhampton.
Other CCTV images show Viktoria earlier on the day she died, meeting pals at a Sainsbury’s supermarket.
She is wearing white jeans and pink boots, which were found soaked in blood at the crime scene.
Viktorija’s skull was smashed by being struck “ferociously” at least 21 times with a hammer-type weapon, the court has heard.
After being fatally wounded in a wooden pavilion, she was dragged 150 yards to the bench where she was found, prosecutors said.
The attacker used such force that her teeth were knocked out and her spine was “snapped” in two.
Viktorija’s bloodstained knickers and jeans were dumped in a park bin. Her mobile phone and shoes were found by a boating lake.
A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named, is on trial charged with murder and rape at Wolverhampton Crown Court. He denies the charges.
The CCTV was released as jurors continued their second day of deliberations today.
In his closing statement, prosecutor Jonathan Rees QC told them: “This is as clear a case of murder as you can get.
“There is no question of Viktorija posing a threat to anybody nor is there a question of self defence.
“The attacker intended to kill her. She bled heavily from her wounds. The motive for this attack was sexual.”
Prosecutors claimed the defendant raped and killed her before trying to cover his tracks by discarding evidence.
Jurors heard the boy had been friends with Viktorija but they had drifted apart until he sent her a message on Facebook days before the murder.
They had also exchanged selfies and the defendant sent her a video of himself, bare-chested and lifting weights.
He invited the rebellious youngster to the park to smoke cannabis and encouraged her to sneak out of the home she shared with her mum and stepdad.
The youth told Viktorija he was going to London and wanted to meet in the park to discuss her coming along with him, the court heard.
He admits he met Viktorija and claims they had consensual sex before he left her there uninjured.
Adam Kane QC, defending, said in his closing speech: “This is a case of ‘I did not kill her and I don’t know who did’.”
He added: “There’s no doubt he lied about seeing Viktorija but people lie for all sorts of reasons.
“Sometimes it’s a matter of sheer panic.”

Earlier Mr Kane suggested Viktorija’s stepfather Saidas Valantinas was to blame after a trace amount of his DNA was found on her underwear.
Mr Valentinas said claims he sexually assaulted and killed his stepdaughter were “nonsense”.
The jury will continue their deliberations tomorrow.
