THE mum of a teenage girl found dead in a park with fatal head injuries had reportedly told a neighbour she feared for her daughter’s safety as two teenage boys are arrested in connection with her murder.
Vicktorija Sokolova, 14, had been missing for just 24 hours before her body was discovered at West Park in Wolverhampton, just yards from her family home.
A mother-of-three who lives on the same street as Vicktorija said: “Five months ago, one day the mum came here and said, ‘my door has been broken in’.”
She added that Vicktorija’s mother had been expressed concern about the crowds her daughter was hanging around with.
Two boys, aged 16 and 17, have been arrested in connection with the teen’s tragic death, West Midlands Police said.
They remain in custody and are being quizzed by detectives after being arrested in their homes in Wolverhampton.
Vicktorija’s body was discovered by walkers just after 7am on Thursday.
On Thursday police revealed that a post-mortem examination found she died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Floral tributes have been left to Vicktorija, with a note pinned to the gates of the park that read: “praying that… out of darkness comes light”.
Victorija’s neighbours described her as “beautiful, bubbly girl.”
Speaking close to the teen’s terraced home, just yards from the park where she was killed, one resident said: “I believe their family are from Lithuania or Russia.
“She was a lovely girl, would always say hello and was full of life.
“She was beautiful really, its just so tragic – you cannot even comprehend what has happened to such a bubbly, friendly girl who had her whole life ahead of her.”
A fellow mum who lived on the street, but wished to remain anonymous, said: “The woman is good, they are a very good family, the mum and dad are going to work and back every day and the girl is good, not any problems.”
Another neighbour who did not wish to be named said: “The police have been here a couple of times but the family didn’t answer the door to them.
“We hardly used to see the mum as she worked, when she was at home the husband worked.
“I haven’t seen the girl for ages, whether she went to live with a relative or something I don’t know.
“As far as I know they were decent people, never gave any problem on the street. She had no siblings, it was just her, her mum and her dad.
“It’s sad. They moved in after us, we have been here for eight years.”
