The dates for Wolverhampton’s Christmas lights switch-on events have been announced by the city council.

Festivities get underway with a funfair, food and drinks as well as other entertainment on Victoria Street in the city centre on 21 November, before the lights are switched on at 18:00 GMT.

Lights will then be switched on on High Street in Wednesfield on 26 November, followed by Church Street in Bilston on 27 November and Upper Green in Tettenhall on 28 November.

City of Wolverhampton Council leader, Stephen Simkins, said the city would also host its first Bilston Christmas Village and encouraged residents to attend the events.

The village, which will run on 26-29 November and 3-6 December, will feature festive stalls selling Christmas treats, handmade gifts and Christmas products, alongside fairground rides and marshmallow toasting
